The two startups, both British in origin, have been chosen from a shortlist of 17 by the jury of BBVA Open Talent in the European region. Everledger specializes in financial antifraud services, whereas Origin deals with services for the financial market.
From the shortlist of 17 contenders in the European final of BBVA Open Talent 2015, the winners picked by the competition jury were Everledger, a startup specializing in antifraud security using blockchain and Big Data technology; and Origin Markets, a startup focused on improving access to capital in financial markets.
The British startup Everledger combines blockchain technology with primary diamond an unchanging, transparent, secure and global accounting system for businesses.
This is a system of fraud detection based on superimposing large volumes of data from closed sources such as insurance companies and the police.
For its part, Origin is a marketplace that links fixed-income investors with corporate borrowers in the bond market to enable the direct issue of bonds.
Both companies will receive prize money of 30,000 euros respectively, and will join the two Latin American winners and the two winners from the USA and the Rest of the world in the two-week immersion program in Mexico and London. The six winners will also be able to enjoy an innovation day in the kitchens of El Celler de Can Roca, recognized as the best restaurant in the world in 2015.
The two winners of BBVA Open Talent 2015 Europe, digital companies dedicated to financial services and technologies that are directly related to the banking business, were announced at the final held in Barcelona during the Next Bank Barcelona event.
The Latin American final was held in Mexico DF, and BitNexo and Destácame were named the winners of BBVA Open Talent for that region. In the final for USA and the Rest of the world, the winners were ModernLend and Lending Front.
