Fintech and gastronomy worlds can come together through innovation. A good example is the fantastic gastronomic innovation day in el Celler de Can Roca.
Guided by the Roca Brothers, the representatives of the winner startups of this BBVA Open Talent edition,Origin Markets, Lending Front, Modern Lend, BitNexo and Destacame and a group of BBVA executives, had the opportunity to enjoy a unique experience in the heart of their restaurant. In the morning, Josep, the second of the brothers, explained the history of the restaurant, from the beginnings, till the day when they were appointed, for the second time, as the best restaurant of the world in 2015. After that, he showed the visitors the local, decorated in wood and placed around a courtyard. At the end, he revealed the five wines he likes most over the almost 3400 they have.
Joan, the kitchen chef, replaced his brother and explained the visitors, how they make every Tuesday experiments, to find new tastes and creative food combinations. This day, the concrete product was the fig. He also showed them how they fuse together the newest technology with the most traditional tools to prepare their plates. After the kitchen, Joan guided the group to La Masia, their innovation center, where they relax and let their imagination and creativity fly.
Jordi, the youngest of the brothers and desserts chef, talked about the importance of key concepts for cooking, such as tastes - that can bring back good memories- or humor, a very important skill to be able to innovate.
After an amazing morning talking about gastronomy and innovation, it came to the moment to verify, why El Celler de Can Roca has been appointed as the best restaurant of the world in 2015. At Espai Mas Marroch, the place Can Roca uses for celebrations, the group had the chance to taste a marvelous menu where sight, flavour, textures,, smell and hearing came together to create a incredible experience.
